Founded in 1996, the Association for the Promotion of Brazilian Software Excellence, or simply SOFTEX, is an Organization of the Civil Society of Public Interest (OSCIP) with headquarters in the city of Campinas, state of São Paulo, and with an office in Brasilia, the Capital of Brazil. SOFTEX manages the Program for Brazilian Software Excellence, the SOFTEX Program, which is priority program from Brazil´s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). The focus of this program is the development of markets and the sustainable expansion of the competitiveness in the Brazilian Industry of Software and IT Services.
The SOFTEX System has a nationwide scope and comprises SOFTEX itself coordinating a broad network of Regional Agents, to whom are connected, as members, around 2,000 software and/or IT services companies. These companies receive support through a series of initiatives conceived and executed by the system.
Since its creation, SOFTEX has been expanding the list of services provided as well as its network of partners, significantly contributing for the social-economic development of Brazil and for the competitive inclusion of the country in the global economy. For that, the association formulates, executes and coordinates actions and projects according to the Strategic Guidelines established by SOFTEX Program. Among these actions and projects deserve special mentioning: PSI-SW (Exports); MPS.BR (Best Practices); PROSOFT (Funding); PAEMPE (Best Practices) and Observatório SOFTEX (Qualified Information).
