INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURSHIPOne of SOFTEX’s goals and attributions is that of promoting and providing support to activities related to innovation, generation, transfer and dissemination of technology. The institution was a pioneer in introducing the entrepreneurship course in undergraduate curricula of IT courses and in inducing support actions for embryonic enterprises that resulted in the creation of the first seed investment funds (Angels) in the country. Many SOFTEX agents host incubators for young enterprises, providing them with guidance and stimulus for their consolidation. More recently SOFTEX agents have been among the supporters of regional Science, Technology & Innovation parks.
After the promulgation of the Federal Innovation Law in 2005, which provides legal support for operationalizing economic subsidy to private enterprises, a series of new tax benefits have been introduced in order to reduce the risks which are always present in innovative projects. The SOFTEX System works with the concept of Open Innovation, acting both as a catalyst and a bridge for the communication and partnership development amongs private software and IT services enterprises and scientific and technological community in Brazil and overseas.
